Dr. Ahmad Khalifa, MD is a Board-Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He is also residency trained in Internal Medicine and fellowship trained in Geriatric Medicine. He has been practicing for over 20 years, and he is fluent in English and converse in Spanish.
Over the course of his career as an OBGYN, Dr. Khalifa has acquired a unique skill set that allows him to provide women with expert care for both routine and complicated medical issues including higher risk pregnancies.
Dr. Khalifa spent a few years living in Florida and working in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine before coming to the realization that the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology was his one true passion.
So, he moved to Los Angeles to begin an OBGYN residency. Currently, Dr. Khalifa has staff privileges at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Downey General Hospital and California Hospital. He also started a private practice, Vytalise Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health, to serve the population in the greater Long Beach area.
Before becoming a board-certified OBGYN with a wide range of experience and surgical skills, Dr. Khalifa completed his residency and board certification in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital, an affiliate of St. Louis University. He also completed his fellowship training in the field of Geriatric Medicine at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Khalifa has completed medical work all over the country, including residencies in Bakersfield, CA and Chesterfield, MO, Fellowship in Tampa, FL and research fellowships in San Diego, CA and Dearborn, MI.
Over the past ten years, Dr. Khalifa honed his skills as an OBGYN by practicing at California Hospital Medical Center as a Laborist/OBGYN, and at Downey General - PIH Health and as a Physician Specialist/OBGYN with the Department of Health Services for the County of Los Angeles. Dr. Khalifa also has experience teaching USC medical students, and he has an Assistant Professor affiliation with USC.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Khalifa gained experience and acquired skills by performing the following:
· Labor and delivery coverage as an on-call physician
· Emergency room consults
· In-patient consults
· Emergency GYN surgeries
In addition to Dr. Khalifa’s regular duties, he also supervises and delegates a large team of residents and midwifes, including:
· Cedar Sinai OBGYN second-year residents
· USC OB intern and Family Medicine residents from USC, UCLA, and H-UCLA
· California Hospital’s Midwifery Service
While working with the Department of Health for the County of Los Angeles, Dr. Khalifa became skilled at handling complicated GYN cases and surgeries, both minor and major.
Dr. Khalifa serves as a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Geriatric Society.
